Lifetime Boat Lift Bunks: Why Boaters Love Them!

LOTO Lift’s LT (Lifetime) Models now offer a choice between marine grade treated lumber  or HDPE lifetime boat lift bunks

Our new premium boat lift bunk boards are a reinforced composite that blends HDPE plastic with a fill material comprised of natural minerals.

This powerful thermoplastic polymer results in bunk boards that are super-strong and durable enough to be part of our LT Lifetime Model boat lifts. And, because no organic fills are used, there is nothing for mold or mildew to adhere to. There is nothing for water to decompose. We want to provide the best and it needs to last a lifetime. We don’t want you to ever need another boat lift bunk replacement again!

Here’s a shortlist of why boaters will prefer poly bunk boards for boat lifts:

  • Super-strong and durable
  • No mold or mildew
  • Will not rot, crack, splinter, peel or decompose
  • Resistant to fading caused by UV rays
  • Smooth surface won’t scuff or scratch your hull
  • Maintenance-free
  • Green / Eco-friendly material approved by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)
  • Lasts a lifetime

What is a bunk board on a boat lift?

Boat lift bunks are the rails on which your boat sits when it is lifted up out of the water. They serve a dual purpose in that they are also responsible for the alignment and placement of your boat on the lift. So as you can imagine, boat lift bunk placement and composition are extremely important.

HDPE Bunks and LT “Lifetime” boat lifts

Many of our customers and the LOTO boaters community have expressed interest in a premium long-life bunk. Always attentive to customer service, we have made the change to HDPE high-density polyethylene plastic bunk boards on our most durable lift.

By replacing the wood boat lift bunks the new rails provide a solid, non-porous dimensional profile that is extremely durable. In addition, they are maintenance-free. So they will not rot, crack, splinter, or peel when exposed to weather elements, insect attacks, and other deteriorating influences. These poly bunks are even resistant to fading caused by UV rays

One of the things that customers value is our commitment to quality. And that commitment is what drives our pursuit of manufacturing the best-built boat lifts in the industry with the longest lifespan.

The result? LOTO Lift has engineered the toughest product on the market. The LT (or Lifetime) Model is a side-mount lift built to withstand such rough water as the Lake of the Ozarks. You can read about them here. And now we’ve added the ultimate bunk board solution!

Keep Your Boat Hull Looking Good

The new polyethylene boat lift bunks are engineered with an ultra-smooth surface to protect your boat hull. No more worrying about the sand and debris that can get embedded in wood or carpet. Nor will you need to be concerned about exposed wood scuffing or scratching up your hull.

As a result, you can rest easy knowing that your watercraft will rest safely on the sturdy, non-marring bunk surface. Additionally, the composition of the bunk helps prevent the adherence of sand or debris. So when your boat lift isn’t in use, the HDPE surface easily rinses clean.

A Word of Caution for Pontoon Owners

While many marine retailers sell bunks, this application is not well-suited for pontoon bunks. HDPE boat lift bunks are 8-10 times harder than treated lumber and are simply too hard for the aluminum logs of a pontoon or tritoon. Therefore, we advise against purchasing a set of poly bunks for use on your pontoon lift.

For this reason, we will continue to use our compression treated boards wrapped in a marine-grade carpet for that application. Our dye-free carpet is made in the USA from 100% recycled materials.

Never replace your bunks again.

As if all these things weren’t impressive enough, the materials we’re using are green and eco-friendly, approved by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). So prepare to hit the water with confidence in knowing that you have the best and longest-lasting lift made for lakes in Missouri and across the U.S.

When you’ve invested so much, it just doesn’t make sense to skimp on how you dock your boat. Buy a boat lift that will last a lifetime from one of the country’s most respected manufacturers.
